Diesel sport and racing enthusiasts have no shortage of options when it comes to ramping up the power of their pickups. Tuners today are flying off the shelves almost as fast as they’re manufactured.
But in your quest for adrenaline-junkie power, remember: tuning is only half the equation; you have to upgrade your airflow, as well. Because if you add a tuner and neglect airflow, your engine will soon be gasping for more air. Once you mash down the throttle, it only takes a few seconds to reach the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) limit, and your power gains will stop in their tracks. Running high EGTs all the time shortens engine life, too. That’s why Banks always recommends airflow improvements to balance out the richer fuel mixture provided by the tuner.

Banks Six-Gun® Diesel Tuner adds up to 95% more horsepower and torque ... up to +155 hp and +385 lb-ft at the rear wheels. Six-Gun is Stacked for Power® to tune pulse width, timing and fuel pressure, and has exclusive built-in engine and transmission safeguards.
Banks PowerPDA® Vehicle Command Center kit* comes with its own docking station and is portable, too. PowerPDA is an ultra-flexible, full-color touch-screen tuner-and-vehicle interface that controls, monitors and records performance functions and engine parameters.
Banks Techni-Cooler® intercooler system with its huge boost tubes, thicker core, big all-aluminum end tanks and a High-Ram inlet casting, optimizes the flow of cool, dense, power-producing air into the engine and lowers exhaust gas temps for higher continuous, useable power.
Banks’ 4" stainless Monster® exhaust (or new Diesel Duals Monster exhaust) has mandrel-bent pipes and a straight-through Monster muffler that dramatically improve airflow and virtually eliminate backpressure. The muffler’s exclusive expansion chamber dissipates the maddening highway “drone” noise that most straight-through designs are plagued by. Instead, you get a rich-but-never-overpowering throaty exhaust note. The Diesel Duals system safely clears the spare tire, shocks and brake lines and provides two gleaming 6" x 5" slash-cut “ob-round” rolled-edge tailpipe tips.
Banks’ lifetime high-flow Banks Ram-Air filter assembly and Banks BigHead® wastegate actuator, which allows the engine to reach full boost more quickly. That’s not all. For Duramax pickups—and coming soon to the other applications—Banks Big Hoss Bundle also includes the radical new Banks Ram-Air® intake system that improves airflow a whopping 42% compared to the stock setup!
Banks Big Hoss Bundle for 7.3L 99-03 Power Strokes is a little different animal. For one thing, it actually includes a diesel tuner and a module (a 2" gauge-mount Six-Gun Diesel Tuner and a calibrate-to-order Banks Big Hoss module), which add best gains of +120 hp and +233 lb-ft at the rear wheels while providing the advantages of a flexible user interface. Six-Gun for 7.3L gives the driver six adjust-on-the-fly power levels, provides a real-time display of critical engine functions, and has optional—and very flexible—temp limiting control. Big Hoss Bundles for 7.3L Power Strokes also include a Techni-Cooler intercooler system, a 4" Monster exhaust system, a TransCommand® to eliminate excessive clutch slippage and extend tranny life (for automatics), a BigHead wastegate actuator and a High Boost Compressor wheel (’99 ½-03 models), a Power Elbow™ turbine-outlet assembly, and a lifetime Banks Ram-Air Filter assembly.
